    Considering all the aspects of what makes a powerful performance for both the audience and the performer.


    Saturday, Sept. 18th

    Kim Wonders: 9:00-10:15 a.m.

    Unit Approach to Vocal Production
    To provide singers with vocal techniques and exercises to assist them in developing the necessary skills to achieve a well-produced voice.

    Kim Wonders: 10:45-12:00 p.m.

    Knowing What and Knowing How
    To assist musical leaders in determining what they know and how they can build on that, and what they don’t know and offer them tools and resources to improve in those areas.

    Setting High Standards for Your Chorus
    Wonderful concepts and techniques that will assist directors in how to build and maintain a culture of high standards for their chorus. Exploring the unlimited possibility of achievement for choruses of any size.


    Lauren Kahn: 2:30-3:30 p.m.

    Intervals are for Everyone!
    Do you want to learn how to read music, but aren’t sure where to start? Understanding note names and intervals is a great first step! In this class, you will explore how intervals are named and constructed, along with how to identify them on the sheet music. No prior music reading required.


    KIM WONDERS BIO:

     
    Kim Wonders has been the Director of Metro Nashville Chorus of Sweet Adelines, International since 1988. Metro Nashville Chorus competed in the Harmony Classic Chorus Competition five times: 2001, 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2011. In 2006, they were named International Division A Chorus Champions and won the International Division AA Chorus Championship in 2008 and 2011. Metro Nashville Chorus has competed in the International Chorus semi-finals six times- four times as regional chorus champions (Regions 23 and 4) and twice as a wild card chorus. They have won the Harmony Achievement Award four consecutive times: 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. They have placed as high as 7th in the International Chorus Finals Competition in 2014. Most recently, MNC placed 9th in the Sweet Adelines International Chorus Competition in St. Louis in October of 2018. They are Region 4’s 2019 Chorus Champions and will compete at International in Phoenix, Arizona In 2022.

    Kim was a Guest Faculty for Harmony College Northwest in 2016. She has also been on the faculty of Harmony University in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021. 

    Kim has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Education in Administration and Supervision. She is a retired high school choral director of 31 years. She was the Music Department Chair and taught International Baccalaureate (IB) Music at Hunters Lane High School in Nashville, Tennessee where she taught for 24 years.

    Kim is currently the Education Coordinator and member of the Regional Faculty in Region 4 of Sweet Adelines, International as well as a member of the International Faculty. She is a highly sought after educator and coach world wide. Kim was selected to receive the 2005 Sweet Adelines International MENC (Music Educators National Conference) Award.
