History

Harmony Fusion Chorus is exactly what its name implies

– a fusion of harmony and in harmony.

A fusion of harmony, the ensemble was formed by the consolidation of two smaller choruses, both chapters of Sweet Adelines International. Harmony Bay Chorus, chartered in 1973, had a home in Oakland at the Lake Merritt United Methodist Church. Harmony Crossroads, chartered in 1993, was based at the Pleasanton Community Church in Pleasanton. The two groups once had occasion to sing together and, lo and behold, the blend was instantly intoxicating. We knew that together we had a sound that we wanted to hold onto.

A fusion in harmony, the new chorus emerged as one unit, with all of the members supporting each other and giving full voice to the new creation. The internal cultures of the two groups were so compatible, it was almost as though we had always been one.

Prior to finalizing our official consolidation, the members of both choruses sang together at our regional competition under the name of Harmony Crossroads Chorus. Although we had only practiced together about three months, we won a third-place medal in the mid-size chorus division, and a fourth-place medal in Region 12. To us, this was proof positive that we were on the right track.
